Mealy, a SaaS nutrition planning platform

How we built a SaaS nutrition planning platform designed to adapt to each user, not the other way around.

← Back to projects

Mealy is a SaaS product designed and built by Kolixia, conceived from day one as a multi-tenant platform ready to scale. This project shows our ability to design a digital product end to end, from the first idea through to production.

The context

The nutrition app market is mostly made of generic solutions that don't account for users' real constraints: allergies, health goals, available budget, meal prep time, or food aversions.

The problem

Users quickly abandon traditional meal-planning apps because the plans don't reflect their personal constraints and require too much manual adjustment every week, which breaks the habit before it can take hold.

Our solution

We built Mealy, a SaaS platform that generates genuinely personalized meal plans based on each user's goals, constraints and preferences. The platform runs on Django and PostgreSQL on the backend, with Celery handling asynchronous meal plan generation, and a Next.js interface for the end user. Progress tracking and automatically generated shopping lists come with every plan.

The benefit

An experience designed to stick: the plan adjusts itself to the user's constraints instead of requiring manual rework every week, which sharply cuts the abandonment rate seen on competing solutions.
